Since ancient times the Susa Valley has been a preferential access way to Italy and to the Po Valley for travelers coming from West. In particular, in centuries the Montgenevre and Mont Cenis Cols has been constantly crossed by armies and kings, travelers, merchants and pilgrims. The strategic importance of this access is testified by the numerous military works that had been erected in these places. There are many intact huge evidences of military architecture from XVIII century to today: a network of high-elevation carriage roads which were necessary to move troops; many forts, outposts, barracks and observation points located at more than 2000 up to 3000 meters of elevation.
After the previous successful editions, we propose once more for 2019 the event “HAT Sestriere Adventour – Motorcycles beyond the clouds”. The purpose of this event is to introduce to enthusiast bikers the “Alpi Motor Resort” project: an initiative created to promote the Valleys of Susa and Chisone, the usability of their high-elevation road network, all the touristic and economical activities that revolve around it.
During this three-day event participants can reach all the most spectacular viewpoints of this area riding on military dirt roads, through valleys, plateaus, villages and mountain pastures. The Assietta road, the Seguret mountains, the Colomion Col, the Argentera Valley, the Thures Valley and the Monti della Luna (“Moon Mountains”) are just some examples of the magnificent places of this event.
For this 9th edition, there will be some major novelties: the opening to transit, only for the participants to this event, of some tracks in the Monti della Luna as well as on the slopes of the mythical Mount Chaberton; and the opportunity to participate in the “HALF HARDALPITOUR”: a 12-hour night adventure on a 250-km route on dirt roads at high altitude, with a GPS track!!
A big novelty is the opportunity to cover these itineraries using the GPS tracks that our organisation will provide to allow you to ride in a perfect Adventouring style!
Itineraries of the two valleys wind up for hundreds of kilometers of various dirt roads, in a high elevation beautiful natural environment. This is an event intended for the true enthusiasts of off-road motorcycles as they can be fully used at best performance.
